The Chef's Hat

It was related to me that a woman in our church had a dream where the pastor and his wife were seen by her in a chef's hat and a type of apron and were offering themselves as servants saying, "How can we serve you". The message was left with her that they were serving her in the gospel. The meaning of the chef's hat remained elusive to them but they had interpreted it as though they were waiters.
When I heard the dream recounted to me, the Lord quickened my understanding that it was not a chef's hat worn by the pastor, but it was the hat worn by the high priest and that they were being signified as priests of God. Then, the Word came to me:

1 Peter 2:9
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

And Finally this image popped in my mind,
so I located it in a book, scanned it,
and I sent it off to the pastor by e-mail.

Bound by False Doctrine

Last night I had a dream about a man that had come to our church as a visitor and was praying at the end of service to receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost. He was about my height and build with very short blond hair. The Pastor and a few others, whose faces were obscured, were laying hands on him and trying to pray him through with their eyes closed. The man began lurching and flailing about as though he were being touched by God. Through the discerning of spirits, I could tell that the man was not feeling God at all and was writhing about in his flesh under false pretenses. The people praying for him were frustrated and a but confused as to why he did not get filled after all that and were prepared to walk away from him.

I approached the man to pray for him and God revealed to me that he would not get the baptism of the Holy Ghost because he had an unclean spirit of false doctrine in him and all of this was a show and a mockery. I admonished the man in the Holy Ghost that he was not feeling God at all, that God had revealed his heart to me and that he was clinging to false doctrines, not only in his mind, but had welcomed a spirit. I sensed that he had a staunch traditional trinitarian doctrine embedded that God was striving with him to yield and he would not. I rebuked him and told him that God would not move to fill him until he fell out of agreement with that spirit and repented of it.

I went then to lay hands on the man and began to pray, the Holy Ghost welled up in me but nothing transferred to the man, his spirit was not emptied and cleared for God to fill him. I began to pray warfare and rebuke of the resident spirit of false doctrine but it would not go, not for lack of Authority and Power, but because it was welcomed and willingly allowed to stay resident in the man. I withdrew my hand from his forehead and told him, until you repent and leave your false teachings, there is nothing that anyone can do for you here. God will not fill you.

Then I awoke.

Pitted Against the Archer

After church today, I laid down and fell into a very deep sleep. In that sleep I had this vivid and very real-seeming dream:

I was standing in a feudal courtyard on a lawn and before me at about 35 yards off was a white paper outline target of the shape of a man like at a practice range. The outline were three grey lines that made hit zones on the overall shape but no real bulls-eye.

I had long-shaft arrows in my hand and was throwing them at the target from far off. I was walking around and throwing them from all angles. I was alone and free to move about without restriction, almost flowing naturally like a sort of danced coreograph like capaoeira. But instead of sparring with a partner I would release an arrow thrown to the target.

When I tried hard to make the target's hit zone, the arrows missed their mark going down and left. When I relaxed and went with "the spirit" they seemed to naturally find the target and stick firmly in the "heart" zone of the target. When I again tried to consciously direct the arrows, they fell away or missed the mark. Then I focused on the Spirit and not by sight and threw an arrow entrusted to the Spirit. The arrow flew and hit the mark in a very tight grouping to the first in the heart zone on the target. I was confident that I had learned to flow with the spirit and trust and had mastered the ablity to strike the heart zone. I felt peaceful, assured, and wise.

I was then out of arrows. I had to walk to the right of the target underneath a colonnade to go get more from a sort of bin. I did not go retrieve my old arrows as is customary in target archery. When I was there several people had come into the colonnade to presumably go to practice as well but they were obscured and remained in the background. A man then came up to me. He was dressed to the Elizabethan Period, with billowed maroon velvet breeches and vesture. Possibly a white silk men's period blouse, a blondish page haircut, and dark piercing eyes that seemed darkened by something around their edges like a mascara. He was not effeminate at all, but rather lordly as a type of aristocrat. His demeanor I would describe more like that of a condescending country club privileged upstart. He was not young but possibly slightly older than myself. He was coming to engage in target practice.

In the man's hand was a bow. I did not get a look at it, but I understood that it was skillfully crafted, perfectly machined and mastered for almost surgical precision in marksmanship. He was obviously an expert marksman aided by his superbly built bow. He was prideful, arrogant, and mocking in his skill gloating over me in highly eloquent Shakesperean-Style prose. He belittled and mocked my approach and style, seeking to challenge me to a dual in marksmanship, and -if I was keen- to learn the secrets of his marksmanship and be taught by him. He was baiting me into this challenge. One that he proudly declared that I was unworthy to partake in, but only if I were to guess the secret to a riddle he would give me that would lead me to a password. A password that would allow me to engage in the marksmanship contest and be shown his secrets. He issued me the riddle. I don't remember it specifically other than it was eloquent, very artfully and skillfully crafted, and that it would have taken one on the order of Aesop or Socrates to deduce by carnal ability.

I was already confident in my ability, however and felt no need to compete with him and that not only was the contest a trick, but so was the riddle. The riddle was designed to make me feel worthless and inadequate before competing and would establish his superiority over me which would psychologically turn me into a willing student and protege in marksmanship. As he posed the riddle to me, I began to deduce its meaning but then my mind returned to its former peace and I turned the riddle back on him.

I asked him, "What is a password for, if not to prevent entry from something that is protected. Why should I have a burden of entry where I can freely go?" I pointed out into the courtyard and the wall disolved and became a forest with a defined edge at the extent of the courtyard. I told him, "Do you see that forest? What password is there that can prevent me from walking in there? Do I need a key to a place where I have free access. Who can restrict me from going there. Who can control or prevent me from going, if I have a will to go? Only the lord or owner of that forest can prevent me from his lands. If I desire access into a stronghold or castle, I can freely enter it of my own accord and will. Only the lord of that castle can prevent me from entrance. But I know the his Lord, the Lord of Lords. And if again, it is my will to enter I can entreat the Lord of Lords and he can give me entry."

At this time the password became known to me as the Word of Knowledge revealed it. I did not declare that I knew it to the man, but looked at him and declared "Your passwords are of none effect. They have no merit and they are merely a game. And I see your trap. I already have the ability to hit the mark and without your bow you have no skill." He looked and my eyes and knew that I knew the password and all of his thoughts and plan he became angry (as disgruntled and thwarted, not as in rage) and stomped off the target range with his bow back to the colonnade to leave and rejoin himself to his cronies.

As he left, he turned over his shoulder and said angrily and spitefully, "I curse you, and I curse your flesh!". To which I responded in the Word, "All flesh is cursed of God by sin, save one man. Your curse is powerless." He said angrily with scorn, "I know who that man is." in a way that implied for me not to lectured him. I answered, "But is He man, or is He God?" He stopped in his tracks and looked at me. I declared, "He is both. He is Jesus Christ. and He is the true password!" He then cried out in angry disgust and fully left as I became filled with a spirit of victory. I realized that the direct knowledge that came to me by spirit was more powerful, wise, and accurate than what I could reason, learn, or perform by skill. And that without trickery, guile, mocking, and cheating, the marksman was actually powerless himself to hit the mark that he was used to hitting accurately so many times before.

Praise God.

Scriptural Basis and Guideline

Dreams of Prophecy

Daniel 2:28-49
28But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these;
29As for thee, O king, thy thoughts came into thy mind upon thy bed, what should come to pass hereafter: and he that revealeth secrets maketh known to thee what shall come to pass. 30But as for me, this secret is not revealed to me for any wisdom that I have more than any living, but for their sakes that shall make known the interpretation to the king, and that thou mightest know the thoughts of thy heart.
31Thou, O king, sawest, and behold a great image. This great image, whose brightness was excellent, stood before thee; and the form thereof was terrible.
32This image's head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass,
33His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay.
34Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces.
35Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.
36This is the dream; and we will tell the interpretation thereof before the king.
37Thou, O king, art a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory.
38And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold.
39And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth.
40And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron: forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all things: and as iron that breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise. 41And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters' clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay.
42And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken.
43And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay. 44And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.
45Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter:
and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.
46Then the king Nebuchadnezzar fell upon his face, and worshipped Daniel, and commanded that they should offer an oblation and sweet odours unto him.
47The king answered unto Daniel, and said, Of a truth it is, that your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, seeing thou couldest reveal this secret.
48Then the king made Daniel a great man, and gave him many great gifts, and made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon, and chief of the governors over all the wise men of Babylon. 49Then Daniel requested of the king, and he set Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, over the affairs of the province of Babylon: but Daniel sat in the gate of the king.

Dreams of Warning

Genesis 20:3-6
3But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man's wife.
4But Abimelech had not come near her: and he said, LORD, wilt thou slay also a righteous nation?
5Said he not unto me, She is my sister? and she, even she herself said, He is my brother: in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this.
6And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her.

Job 7:13-15
13When I say, My bed shall comfort me, my couch shall ease my complaints;
14Then thou scarest me with dreams, and terrifiest me through visions:
15So that my soul chooseth strangling, and death rather than my life.

Daniel 5:16-31
16And I have heard of thee, that thou canst make interpretations, and dissolve doubts: now if thou canst read the writing, and make known to me the interpretation thereof, thou shalt be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about thy neck, and shalt be the third ruler in the kingdom.
17Then Daniel answered and said before the king, Let thy gifts be to thyself, and give thy rewards to another; yet I will read the writing unto the king, and make known to him the interpretation.
18O thou king, the most high God gave Nebuchadnezzar thy father a kingdom, and majesty, and glory, and honour:
19And for the majesty that he gave him, all people, nations, and languages, trembled and feared before him: whom he would he slew; and whom he would he kept alive; and whom he would he set up; and whom he would he put down.
20But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him:
21And he was driven from the sons of men; and his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild asses: they fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven; till he knew that the most high God ruled in the kingdom of men, and that he appointeth over it whomsoever he will.
22And thou his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thine heart, though thou knewest all this; 23But hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before thee, and thou, and thy lords, thy wives, and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know: and the God in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified:
24Then was the part of the hand sent from him; and this writing was written.
25And this is the writing that was written, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.
26This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it.
27TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.
28PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.
29Then commanded Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel with scarlet, and put a chain of gold about his neck, and made a proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.
30In that night was Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans slain.
31And Darius the Median took the kingdom, being about threescore and two years old.

Matthew 2:12-13
12And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.
13And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.

Matthew 27:17-20
17Therefore when they were gathered together, Pilate said unto them, Whom will ye that I release unto you? Barabbas, or Jesus which is called Christ?
18For he knew that for envy they had delivered him.
19When he was set down on the judgment seat,
his wife sent unto him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that just man: for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him.
20But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask Barabbas, and destroy Jesus.

Matthew 19-22
19But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,
20Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young child's life.
21And he arose, and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel. 22But when he heard that Archelaus did reign in Judaea in the room of his father Herod, he was afraid to go thither: notwithstanding,
being warned of God in a dream, he turned aside into the parts of Galilee:
23And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene.

False Dreams and False Interpretations of Dreams

Deut 13:1-3
1If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder,
2And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them;
3Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

Ecclesiastes 5:7 7
For in the multitude of dreams and many words there are also divers vanities: but fear thou God.

Jeremiah 23:32
32Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dreams, saith the LORD, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their lightness; yet I sent them not, nor commanded them: therefore they shall not profit this people at all, saith the LORD.

Jeremiah 29:8
8For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Let not your prophets and your diviners, that be in the midst of you, deceive you, neither hearken to your dreams which ye cause to be dreamed.

Daniel 2:10-12
10The Chaldeans answered before the king, and said, There is not a man upon the earth that can shew the king's matter: therefore there is no king, lord, nor ruler, that asked such things at any magician, or astrologer, or Chaldean.
11And it is a rare thing that the king requireth, and there is none other that can shew it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.
12For this cause the king was angry and very furious, and commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.

Zechariah 10:1-3
1Ask ye of the LORD rain in the time of the latter rain; so the LORD shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field.
2For the idols have spoken vanity, and the diviners have seen a lie, and have told false dreams; they comfort in vain: therefore they went their way as a flock, they were troubled, because there was no shepherd.

True Interpretations of Dreams and the Gift of Interpretation of Dreams

Genesis 41:8-16
8And it came to pass in the morning that his spirit was troubled; and he sent and called for all the magicians of Egypt, and all the wise men thereof: and Pharaoh told them his dream; but there was none that could interpret them unto Pharaoh.
9Then spake the chief butler unto Pharaoh, saying, I do remember my faults this day:
10Pharaoh was wroth with his servants, and put me in ward in the captain of the guard's house, both me and the chief baker:
11And we dreamed a dream in one night,
I and he; we dreamed each man according to the interpretation of his dream.
12And there was there with us a young man, an Hebrew, servant to the captain of the guard; and we told him, and he interpreted to us our dreams; to each man according to his dream he did interpret.
13And it came to pass, as he interpreted to us, so it was; me he restored unto mine office, and him he hanged.
14Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon: and he shaved himself, and changed his raiment, and came in unto Pharaoh.
15And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I have dreamed a dream, and there is none that can interpret it: and I have heard say of thee, that thou canst understand a dream to interpret it.
16And Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, It is not in me: God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace.

Daniel 1:17
17As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.

Daniel 2:1-27
1And in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar
Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams, wherewith his spirit was troubled, and his sleep brake from him.
2Then the king commanded to call the magicians, and the astrologers, and the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans, for to shew the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king.
3And the king said unto them,
I have dreamed a dream, and my spirit was troubled to know the dream.
4Then spake the Chaldeans to the king in Syriack, O king, live for ever: tell thy servants the dream, and we will shew the interpretation.
5The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, The thing is gone from me: if ye will not make known unto me the dream, with the interpretation thereof, ye shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made a dunghill.
6But if ye shew the dream, and the interpretation thereof, ye shall receive of me gifts and rewards and great honour: therefore shew me the dream, and the interpretation thereof.
7They answered again and said, Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will shew the interpretation of it.
8The king answered and said, I know of certainty that ye would gain the time, because ye see the thing is gone from me.
9But if ye will not make known unto me the dream, there is but one decree for you: for ye have prepared lying and corrupt words to speak before me, till the time be changed: therefore tell me the dream, and I shall know that ye can shew me the interpretation thereof.
13And the decree went forth that the wise men should be slain; and they sought Daniel and his fellows to be slain.
14Then Daniel answered with counsel and wisdom to Arioch the captain of the king's guard, which was gone forth to slay the wise men of Babylon:
15He answered and said to Arioch the king's captain, Why is the decree so hasty from the king? Then Arioch made the thing known to Daniel.
16Then Daniel went in, and desired of the king that he would give him time, and that he would shew the king the interpretation.
17Then Daniel went to his house, and made the thing known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions:
18That they would desire mercies of the God of heaven concerning this secret; that Daniel and his fellows should not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.
19Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.
20Daniel answered and said,
Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his:
21And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:
22He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.
23I thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me now what we desired of thee: for thou hast now made known unto us the king's matter.

24Therefore Daniel went in unto Arioch, whom the king had ordained to destroy the wise men of Babylon: he went and said thus unto him; Destroy not the wise men of Babylon: bring me in before the king, and I will shew unto the king the interpretation.
25Then Arioch brought in Daniel before the king in haste, and said thus unto him, I have found a man of the captives of Judah, that will make known unto the king the interpretation.
26The king answered and said to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, Art thou able to make known unto me the dream which I have seen, and the interpretation thereof?
27Daniel answered in the presence of the king, and said, The secret which the king hath demanded cannot the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, the soothsayers, shew unto the king;

Dan 5:11-12
11There is a man in thy kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of thy father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him; whom the king Nebuchadnezzar thy father, the king, I say, thy father, made master of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers;
12Forasmuch as an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting of dreams, and shewing of hard sentences, and dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar: now let Daniel be called, and he will shew the interpretation.

Joel 2:28
28And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your
sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:

Matthew 13:10-11
10And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
11He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

Luke 8:10
And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.

1 Corinthians 4
1Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.

1 Corinthians 13:2
And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

Acts 2:17
17And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

The Lord Bringing a Deep Sleep

Genesis 2:21
And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;

Job 4: 12-14
12Now a thing was secretly brought to me, and mine ear received a little thereof.
13In thoughts from the visions of the night, when deep sleep falleth on men,
14Fear came upon me, and trembling, which made all my bones to shake.

Job 33:14-16
14For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not.
15In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed;
16Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction,

Daniel 8:15-18
15And it came to pass, when I, even I Daniel, had seen the vision, and sought for the meaning, then, behold, there stood before me as the appearance of a man.
16And I heard a man's voice between the banks of Ulai, which called, and said, Gabriel,
make this man to understand the vision.
17So he came near where I stood: and when he came, I was afraid, and fell upon my face: but he said unto me, Understand, O son of man: for at the time of the end shall be the vision.
18Now as he was speaking with me, I was in a deep sleep on my face toward the ground: but he touched me, and set me upright.

Daniel 10:8-10
